Special Program / Enrichment Offered

1. Special Modules for Lower Sec Science
  • SPA Skill Module is offered for all Sec1 Express students to prepare students for the SPA Assessment in Upper Sec
  • Inquiry learning packages (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) for all Sec 2 Express students to develop students to be independent thinkers.
2. Academic Character Excellence (ACE)
  • The ACE programme aims to stretch high-ability students and build peaks of excellence for 20 specially selected Sec 3 students. These students participate in a Research & Development Project (R&D). Students will enter the Biotechnology Fair organized by the Singapore Science Centre in August. The value of this programme is in the form of special training courses, approved competition and other administrative fees.
3. AEM (Advanced Elective Module)
  • In partnership with Singapore Polytechnic, a group of 20 Sec 3 Express students are selected to be offered this module. Through this programme, the department attempts to stretch the higher ability students
4. Competitions
  • The department hopes build stretch high-ability students by participating in the following competitions. It is hoped that the experience gained will be beneficial to our students in their future endeavors.
    • Chemical Powered Car Competition organized by Ngee Ann Polytechnic One of the Bartley Teams (Clarence, Thomas, Dipa, Susan & Jiewei, 3E1, 2008) set the record of 32.9 m for the day’s competition
    • Solar Power Car Competition organized by Singapore Polytechnic
5. Enrichment for Lower Sec

The department hopes to increase students’ passion in Science through the following activiteis

  • Questa Club for all Sec 1 Express and 2 Normal (Academic) students
  • Sec 1 Science Trail and DNA Workshop at the Science Centre
  • Subscription to “Current Science” for all Sec 2 Express students
  • Biology Enrichment and workshops for 1 Normal (Academic) students
