Mathematics Department

Goal:

To nurture and cultivate the interest in Mathematics, to excel in studies of Mathematics and create meaningful learning experience in every lesson for both teacher and students.

Enrichments & Special Programmes:

1. Bridging P6 to Sec 1 Mathematics Programme for selected secondary 1 students in term 1.

2. Mathematics Olympiad Training program for selected Secondary One & Two students 

In line with our school’s philosophy that every student has the potential to be developed and that all students can learn and succeed, we have arranged Mathematics Olympiad trainings for selected students so that they will be trained to participate in the International Mathematics Competition. Selected students from secondary 1 and 2 who show an aptitude for Mathematics have been selected to participate in this Mathematics Olympiad Training so as to:
• Develop thinking skills through solving non-routine problems,
• Equip students with problem solving skills and mathematical knowledge necessary for higher mathematics and mathematics competitions,
• Create an environment in which the spirit of exploring mathematics and problem solving prevails.

3. Mathematics International Competitions by the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

We have also arranged all secondary 1E and 3E students to participate in the annual Mathematics Competitions by UNSW. This competition provides an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation.

4. Internal Competitions for Normal Academic and Normal Technical students to cultivate their interest for mathematics.
