Bartley Student Council was formed in 1999 by Mrs June Ng, Vice Principal and headed by Mr Tay Soon Wah, Discipline Master. It was formerly known as the Bartley Prefectorial Board.

The change in name signifies the change in its roles and responsibilities. The motto of the BSC is "The Best that we can be". Through the years, the BSC has taken on new themes that aligns itself to school goals and values. Also, every student councillor receive a new T-shirt with a new design depicting the current theme, during the annual Student Council Leadership Training Camp. To date, 9 different T-shirt designs have been created for every theme.

Using different fonts and letters, forming the definition of an extraordinary student leader to make its impression over the minds and hearts of each student councilor. The Design is still on display outside the walls of the current SC Room in Bartley

A phoenix bursting into life carrying the armour of Emerge and bearing the banner of Bartley Student Leaders. The word Emerge is at the centre of the armor speaks to us that an emerging leader starts from Self Leadership. We must lead ourselves before we lead others. Next, we learn to lead up – in relationships with those around us. Then, we learn to lead and influence those around us. Finally, we lead those under our care.

Dunamis – The Power of One
|
The Student Leader’s pledge was crafted into a number One. The word Dunamis is a Greek word for “dynamite or power”. We want to unite all the student leaders in the school under one pledge. This pledge is taken by all the student leaders in the school during the combined SL camp and Combined SL Investiture. This design was shared among the Student Council, Class Committee Council, Sports Leaders and key CCA leaders.

The design focuses on uniting Student Council, CCC, Sports Leaders and CCA Leaders with a common vision and purpose. The theme is the infusion of both SC and CCC. The dove represents love and hope moving together towards excellence on the winds of all the student leader bodies. We want to see a value added school with a high performing culture.

Student Leaders who have left the school are invited to join the Student Leaders Alumni called LEAD (Leadership Education and Assessment Department), formed in November 2006 by Mr Chin K T. Its purpose is to provide a link and a platform for all student leaders to keep in touch and to contribute to the leadership training and development of the student leaders in the school.

In 2008, the school started brought the student leaders from the Student Council, CCC and CCA groups together in its inaugural Combined Student Leaders Investiture on 14 July. The ceremony saw the student leaders come together to take the Student Leaders Pledge. The 2nd Combined Student Leaders Investiture took place on 17 August 09.
